La oposición toma este viernes las calles de Venezuela, elevando al máximo su desafío al presidente Nicolás Maduro, quien prohibió las manifestaciones que afecten la elección de una Asamblea Constituyente.
Será una abierta confrontación. Concluida a las 06H00 locales (10H00 GMT) una huelga de 48 horas que dejó ocho muertos, los adversarios de Maduro comenzarán al mediodía la “gran toma de Venezuela”, con bloqueos de vías neurálgicas de cada ciudad.
Un policía identificado como Oneiver Quiñones murió tras recibir un disparo en la cabeza el jueves en Ejido, estado Mérida (oeste), informó este viernes la Fiscalía, que cifra en 113 los fallecidos en cuatro meses de protestas.
Allí, el miércoles, un hombre de 30 años murió tras resultar herido durante una manifestación.
El gobierno prohibió las movilizaciones que afecten la elección -el domingo- de los 545 asambleístas de la Constituyente y amenazó con cárcel de 5 a 10 años a quienes la boicoteen.
“Si cancela la Constituyente sería una oportunidad para Maduro de lavarse la cara ante el mundo. Pase lo que pase la lucha sigue”, aseguró el líder opositor Henrique Capriles.
Llamando a un “boicot”, la coalición opositora Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD) pidió mantener las protestas hasta la jornada electoral.
“Tenemos que prepararnos para profundizar el conflicto. El régimen no ha dado muestras de que vaya a suspender ese proceso”, dijo el diputado Freddy Guevara, a nombre de la MUD.
– Alta tensión –
La Constituyente arreció las protestas que exigen la salida de Maduro en un país polarizado y sumido -pese a su riqueza petrolera- en una profunda crisis, con brutal inflación y grave escasez de alimentos y medicinas.
Temerosos de que falte la comida y haya mayor caos y violencia, muchos venezolanos se abastecieron de alimentos y miles cruzaron la frontera hacia Colombia.
Ante la creciente tensión, Estados Unidos dispuso que los familiares de sus diplomáticos salgan de Venezuela, y Canadá recomendó a sus ciudadanos evitar viajar a este país y salir a los que ya están.
Maduro, cuya gestión es rechazada por 80% de la población según la firma Datanálisis, asegura que la Constituyente traerá paz.
Además, busca la recuperación económica con propuestas como la elevación a rango constitucional del control de precios y la distribución de alimentos subsidiados. Para los opositores será la bancarrota.
– “Pura palabrería” –
Unos días antes de la elección, el gobierno de Donald Trump sancionó a 13 funcionarios y militares venezolanos, entre ellos la presidenta el poder electoral, Tibisay Lucena, acusándolos de “minar la democracia” y de supuestos actos de violencia o corrupción.
No obstante, Maduro ratificó que la Constituyente no tiene marcha atrás.
Maduro acusa a sus adversarios de intentar un golpe de Estado con apoyo de Washington, y acusa de sumisión al “imperio” a gobiernos de Latinoamérica y Europa que le pidieron frenar la Constituyente.
El presidente venezolano también planteó a la MUD iniciar un diálogo antes de la votación. Pero fue rechazado.
“Pura palabrería. Ni por un momento podemos bajar la presión basado en falsas ilusiones”, dijo Guevara, al afirmar que la alianza opositora no ha recibido propuestas serias de diálogo.
Para sacar adelante su proyecto, vital para su permanencia en el poder, Maduro cuenta con apoyo del máximo tribunal de justicia, del poder electoral y de los militares, su principal sostén y a quienes ha dado gran poder político y económico.
Su iniciativa provocó una fractura en el chavismo, encabezada por la fiscal general Luisa Ortega, quien aseguró que Maduro y su grupo quieren seguir gobernando “sobre las ruinas de un país”.
– Una elección sin rival –
La MUD decidió no participar, alegando que la Constituyente no fue convocada en referendo y que el sistema comicial fue diseñado para que el gobierno la controle y haga una Carta Magna a su medida para instaurar una dictadura comunista.
Según los analistas Colette Capriles y Benigno Alarcón, tanto el rechazo interno y externo a la Constituyente afectan su legitimidad.
Por ello, movilizando a sus bases para que lleven gente a las urnas y controlando si votan los beneficiarios de programas sociales, el gobierno busca evitar la abstención, tras los 7,6 millones de votos que la MUD asegura logró en el plebiscito simbólico que hizo hace dos semanas contra esa iniciativa.
Pero debido al método de elección, que combina sufragio por territorios y sectores sociales, 62% de los 19,8 millones de electores podrá votar al menos dos veces, según el experto Eugenio Martínez, lo que dificulta el cálculo de la participación.
Un 70% de venezolanos rechaza la Constituyente, según Datanálisis. “Pero así voten dos personas el domingo, Maduro y Cilia Flores (la primera dama), saldrá Tibisay (Lucena) diciendo que fueron millones”, aseguró Guevara.
